The Playhouse temporarily re-opened on Saturday to a welcoming cheer from it’s loyal audience, the cast , smiling from ear to ear had to wait for the reception to calm before they could begin their performance. Although the fight must continue to keep this treasured theatre open many in the audience were visibly overcome with joy at the finale of this first battle.
Treasure Island is a swashbuckling adventure that would warm the coldest cockles of any scrooge like character and a pair of tickets makes a great christmas present, so why not give the Derby Playhouse a call today and help save your theatre!

Really, really pleased that the Playhouse has reopened and if it does close, it will be a very great loss to Derby and surroundung areas. Sod the shops!
Treasure Island gets 5-star review from The Guardian: “this is a production too good to miss from a theatre too valuable to lose.” http://arts.guardian.co.uk/theatre/drama/reviews/story/0,,2227541,00.html
The most important thing of all is that the only theatre as such in Derby keeps going, even if it is owned by someone else, eg
Derby City Council, and it is also important that the productions pay for themselves, even though they may sometimes have to be partially subsidized.
